→ introduction to fable
What is this game about?
Fable is a private panfandom slice of life/fantasy themed roleplay community with an emphasis on cottagecore aesthetic! Have you ever seen those memes about yearning for a simple life of having a cottage in the woods while baking bread, growing vegetables, having an animal companion or two and looking after a garden? That's the kind of vibe that inspired the setting of this game! ✿

While the setting may be cosy and relaxed with an emphasis on CR and friendmaking, there is a plot! But this plot isn't heavy or intense, nor are characters obligated to participate. Just as Fable is inspired by cottagecore aesthetic, it is also inspired by fairytales, and its story is supposed to be a fairytale in itself. Not all fairytales are sunshine and roses, unfortunately, but the perk of this game is that settling into a nice life and enjoying yourself will naturally assist the magical creatures of this world who are in need of help.
What is the plot?
The land where Fable exists is a magical world called Rhyme. Rhyme was created by a big white Faerie Dragon called Prism, who can paint anything into existence by using magic paint and his brush-tipped tail. Prism was unable to create his own magic, but after consuming magical fruit grown by his six brothers and sisters, he had the ability to make paint in every colour of the rainbow for them to create an entire world together. And so, the land of Rhyme was born.

Eventually, the dragons decided that they wanted to share their world with others. They combined their abilities and created a magical Rainbow Bridge that would allow other magical beings to cross. Soon enough, Rhyme became the home of all sorts of fairytale creatures, yōkai and mythological beings - who all shared the land and lived happily together under the guiding watch of their dragon overlords.

Sadly, this happy life wasn't going to last. An Evil Witch had heard of a magical realm filled with wonderful creatures and decided to cross over the Rainbow Bridge in order to take some captive as her pets. Drawn to their luminous scales and faerie wings, she kidnapped all of Prism's dragon siblings, taking them back to her castle. Before she left, she destroyed the Rainbow Bridge with a beam from her magic wand.

With his siblings gone, this created a dilemma for Prism: He could no longer use his magic since it relied on them and their fruit. The magical inhabitants, heartbroken by this tragedy, decided to try and take matters into their own hands. Unfortunately, the Witch is no fool when it comes to magic, and her castle is protected by a barrier that prevents magical creatures from spying. The only way for Prism to check on his siblings is for him to visit them in their dreams, as dreamwalking is one of his natural abilities. His siblings are unharmed, much to his relief. They truly are being kept as the Witch's pets, albeit against their own will.

The Fae suggested that they try to find help elsewhere because even if their magic doesn't work in the same way as Prism's siblings, it has its uses. Prism agreed, but made the Fae promise him not to steal any unsuspecting humans due to the reputation that they have. They kept their promise, sort of ... which leads to the arrival of your character!
What is the AC like?
Monthly check-ins, just to keep things simple and relaxed!
Is this a private game?
Yes, Fable is a private game that has an invite-only system. There are currently no plans to change this.
How do I get an invite?
Players can invite +2 people once a month. For those who do not know players in the game, please refer to this post then send us a private message!
Is there an age restriction?
We ask that players who apply are 18 years old or over.
Is smut allowed here?
It absolutely is! Fable is an 18+ RP game and smut is more than welcome! Get yo freak on!
Are there canon caps?
There are no canon caps in Fable! Characters are able to apply from each series they hail from in unlimited numbers. The restrictions we have include only one of each canon character being allowed in the game (doubles are not allowed), and players may only have four characters in the game at one time. Regarding "doubles" - we also don't allow more than one of the same character type. For example, we don't allow two Travellers from Genshin Impact. Only one may be Traveller and the other must be the Abyss Twin. There may also be only one Warrior of Light OC as well. If you have any queries or questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to ask.
→ arrival & setting
How does my character arrive?
In summary, the Fae travel to your character's world to try and find humans to bring into Fable, as they know that human emotions can influence fairy magic. Committed to their promise to Prism, they don't steal humans from their homes - but take a portion of their soul away in a glass bottle while they are asleep. Once they arrive in Fable, your character's soul is freed from the bottle which materialises into a copy of themselves from their home. If they're not convinced, the Fae will use a magic mirror to show them where they are in their world currently, likely with them waking up and starting their morning routine.

It was discovered that humans in Fable have a magical connection to fruit the same way Prism's dragon siblings did. Prism's siblings weren't humans by any measure, but the emotions they felt and the strength of their personalities seem to carry on in those who are similar. The magical qualities of each fruit allow unique animal transformations and elemental powers when enough is harvested. This is the reward system for the game, leaning into the plot with the idea that your character having fun in this cottagecore setting and growing to fruit to give to Prism rewards them with a comfortable fun life and many magical adventures. And, when the time comes, perhaps a big adventure to rescue the stolen dragons.
What does my character arrive with?
Just the clothes on their back! They'll have to earn their possessions back through rewards.
→ character questions
What is my character's purpose here?
To enjoy themselves and have fun, basically! Make friends, go on adventures, experience some wild magical things they may have have never seen before, all that good stuff. By having fun and taking part in the realm, magical fruit grows in your character's garden which can be cashed in for rewards. It's a win/win all around, really! Plus, there may be more intense events which tap into themes such a memory share and other forms of adventure - this game won't be happen all of the time and will allow players to experience the cottagecore setting in any way they like. There may be prompts involving slice of life, but others may encourage hurt/comfort, combat or even smut. No one is forced to fit a particular mould and everyone can play how they want!
What happens during hiatus or drop?
Anything except for death. We want to keep the game lighthearted and don't want to inflict too much emotional pain on the inhabitants here. The likely scenario for characters going home is that they meet with the Fae and wish to return, and the Fae cast a spell that sends their missing soul fragment back to the character where they were taken.
Are my character's powers nuked?
Nope! Your character will arrive exactly as they are.
Is there an age limit for characters?
Characters of any age may apply! We strictly ask that all characters involved in smut/adult RP are over the age of 18. Smut involving minors is strictly not allowed.
What happens with illness and death?
As mentioned in the previous question, characters cannot die here. But they can absolutely get sick. The reason why they can't die is likely due to the magical protection they experience due to their bond with the fruit they are paired with. Even if they experience a serious injury, they will make a recovery.

The worst they can do is faint. There are wild scorpions, tarantulas and bees that can make someone faint once they are bitten or stung. Your character will wake up in front of their house without a clue as to how this happened ...
My character isn't fully human! Will they be treated differently here?
Honestly? Yes. But that's not a bad thing! With the lore and setting, any characters that are Fae or have other kind of mythological connections (such as dragon characters, unicorn characters, etc.) will be regarded with a bit more trust from the locals! This can be worked into your CR or interactions with the NPCs of Fable. It could be useful for your character to help another one in this way.
Do normal fruit grow in the game?
Yes! Your character may grow them in their garden, even! Any fruit you can imagine likely grows in Fable.
→ reward system
What is the reward system in this game?
In summary: Fable's reward system is based around the number of tags you write with your character. When you join the game, you will be able to choose a type of fruit for your character to grow in their garden from the list of Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Pears, Blueberries and Peaches. The different types of fruit give access to different types of rewards/powers that characters can receive. If you would like to read the rewards offered by each fruit, please go here to take a look!

The reward system works in the following format: For every 10 comments you write, 5 fruits grow in your character's garden. These fruits can be cashed in for rewards with the realm's overseer, Prism the dragon, which is done on this page here. The rewards page displays a reward menu which shows what the rewards can be cashed on for.
How do you earn rewards?
By commenting in the game and developing CR! In summary, when you comment around the game with your character and fill CR tasks, fruit will grow on trees in your character's garden. This magical fruit can be harvested and exchanged for rewards! Please see the rewards page for a more thorough explanation on how this system works, along with the rewards you can achieve.
I want to change my fruit. How do I do that?
If you change your mind upon arrival, you can swap immediately! Once changed, we then ask that players wait another 2 months before they change their fruit a second time.
If I change my fruit, will my rewards cross over?
Yes and no. If your character unlocked transformation abilities and magic powers, they would adapt to that fruit's equivalent. If your character unlocked transforming into a tiger while their fruit is orange and they change to pears, they will not be able to transform into a tiger any more and will need to pick an animal compatible with pear fruit.
→ work & businesses
Is there an in-game currency?
Yes! In the form of coins. But everything involving this currency is purely hand-waved. It would be too much stress to keep track of character earnings and how much they spend in-game, so the mods will allow the players to make choices in regards to how much their character makes from work. We expect a little bit of realism and no god-moding here.
How can my character make money?
They can open a business! Or the easiest way would be for them to sell produce and flowers at the markets. They can also visit Tanook's shop to sell any fish and bugs they catch.
How do I decide how much my character earns?
We may create a guide for bugs/fish but honestly, it's just a direct reference to Animal Crossing. Some bugs and fish are rarer than others, and most of them function in a seasonal cycle. Your character is likely to earn less money this way during colder months due to them appearing less.

In regards to character business, that's completely up to you! It depends on the kind of business they have and how busy they are. Don't sell your character too short, but also try to keep things fair.
→ locations & residency
What if I want my character to live with others? What happens to the fruit trees?
It is completely okay for characters to live together! The Tanuki in charge of Fable's housing will work through the night in order to complete any construction work on cottages, including combining character homes into one so that they now live with each other. He says you're in debt after all this work, but you'll pay it off ... eventually. (Or never.)

As for the fruit, if a character growing apples moves in with a character growing oranges, both of their fruit trees will grow in the garden they share.
→ application questions
If I app to another game, can I CRAU the magical powers my character earned in Fable?
Of course! As long as the character doesn't have their powers nuked in their new game, their abilities can cross over with them.
How many characters can I put in the game?
Currently, we think a limit of 4 characters per player seems sustainable.
