game rules
please read before you apply!
โ– Do not exhibit cruel or unruly behaviour. A warning will be given, followed by a ban if bad behaviour persists.

โ– You must be over the age of 18 to join.

โ– Discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated. We are a safe space for minority groups and queer/LGBT+ expression. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ableism - and any other sort of discrimination will result in an immediate ban.

โ– Please play with an ounce of fairness and realism. Do not God-Mod (try to surpass the characters/NPCs in game by ability) or Info-Mod (allow your character to know things about another that they realistically wouldn't.)

โ– Remember that IC behaviour =/= OOC behaviour. RP is supposed to be a disconnection between player and character. If you have any concerns with a player, please speak to a mod.

โ– Respect how someone may play a character, even if it is not in line with canon or how you personally interpret them. In other words, do not berate players for any headcanons regarding sexuality or gender identity.

โ– Try and stay active, don't let the game's setting stop you from taking part and pushing character development. That's exactly what the reward system is for!

โ– Use appropriate warnings in OOC brackets or subject headers to mark sexual content, violence, spoilers and abuse. It provides a blanket of security for anyone who may be skimming or reading what you have written so that they do not get triggered.

โ– Fourthwalling is strictly not allowed. This means that your real-world character cannot know of any video game or anime characters through the media they are from. They are, however, allowed to be familiar with fairytales and creatures from their world.

โ†’ introduction to fable
What is this game about?
Fable is a private panfandom slice of life/fantasy themed roleplay community with an emphasis on cottagecore aesthetic! Have you ever seen those memes about yearning for a simple life of having a cottage in the woods while baking bread, growing vegetables, having an animal companion or two and looking after a garden? That's the kind of vibe that inspired the setting of this game! โœฟ

While the setting may be cosy and relaxed with an emphasis on CR and friendmaking, there is a plot! But this plot isn't heavy or intense, nor are characters obligated to participate. Just as Fable is inspired by cottagecore aesthetic, it is also inspired by fairytales, and its story is supposed to be a fairytale in itself. Not all fairytales are sunshine and roses, unfortunately, but the perk of this game is that settling into a nice life and enjoying yourself will naturally assist the magical creatures of this world who are in need of help.
What is the plot?
The land where Fable exists is a magical world called Rhyme. Rhyme was created by a big white Faerie Dragon called Prism, who can paint anything into existence by using magic paint and his brush-tipped tail. Prism was unable to create his own magic, but after consuming magical fruit grown by his six brothers and sisters, he had the ability to make paint in every colour of the rainbow for them to create an entire world together. And so, the land of Rhyme was born.

Eventually, the dragons decided that they wanted to share their world with others. They combined their abilities and created a magical Rainbow Bridge that would allow other magical beings to cross. Soon enough, Rhyme became the home of all sorts of fairytale creatures, yลkai and mythological beings - who all shared the land and lived happily together under the guiding watch of their dragon overlords.

Sadly, this happy life wasn't going to last. An Evil Witch had heard of a magical realm filled with wonderful creatures and decided to cross over the Rainbow Bridge in order to take some captive as her pets. Drawn to their luminous scales and faerie wings, she kidnapped all of Prism's dragon siblings, taking them back to her castle. Before she left, she destroyed the Rainbow Bridge with a beam from her magic wand.

With his siblings gone, this created a dilemma for Prism: He could no longer use his magic since it relied on them and their fruit. The magical inhabitants, heartbroken by this tragedy, decided to try and take matters into their own hands. Unfortunately, the Witch is no fool when it comes to magic, and her castle is protected by a barrier that prevents magical creatures from spying. The only way for Prism to check on his siblings is for him to visit them in their dreams, as dreamwalking is one of his natural abilities. His siblings are unharmed, much to his relief. They truly are being kept as the Witch's pets, albeit against their own will.

The Fae suggested that they try to find help elsewhere because even if their magic doesn't work in the same way as Prism's siblings, it has its uses. Prism agreed, but made the Fae promise him not to steal any unsuspecting humans due to the reputation that they have. They kept their promise, sort of ... which leads to the arrival of your character!
What is the AC like?
Monthly check-ins, just to keep things simple and relaxed!
Is this a private game?
Yes, Fable is a private game that has an invite-only system. There are currently no plans to change this.
How do I get an invite?
Players can invite +2 people once a month. For those who do not know players in the game, please refer to this post then send us a private message!
Is there an age restriction?
We ask that players who apply are 18 years old or over.
Is smut allowed here?
It absolutely is! Fable is an 18+ RP game and smut is more than welcome! Get yo freak on!
Are there canon caps?
There are no canon caps in Fable! Characters are able to apply from each series they hail from in unlimited numbers. The restrictions we have include only one of each canon character being allowed in the game (doubles are not allowed), and players may only have four characters in the game at one time. Regarding "doubles" - we also don't allow more than one of the same character type. For example, we don't allow two Travellers from Genshin Impact. Only one may be Traveller and the other must be the Abyss Twin. There may also be only one Warrior of Light OC as well. If you have any queries or questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to ask.
โ†’ arrival & setting
How does my character arrive?
In summary, the Fae travel to your character's world to try and find humans to bring into Fable, as they know that human emotions can influence fairy magic. Committed to their promise to Prism, they don't steal humans from their homes - but take a portion of their soul away in a glass bottle while they are asleep. Once they arrive in Fable, your character's soul is freed from the bottle which materialises into a copy of themselves from their home. If they're not convinced, the Fae will use a magic mirror to show them where they are in their world currently, likely with them waking up and starting their morning routine.

It was discovered that humans in Fable have a magical connection to fruit the same way Prism's dragon siblings did. Prism's siblings weren't humans by any measure, but the emotions they felt and the strength of their personalities seem to carry on in those who are similar. The magical qualities of each fruit allow unique animal transformations and elemental powers when enough is harvested. This is the reward system for the game, leaning into the plot with the idea that your character having fun in this cottagecore setting and growing to fruit to give to Prism rewards them with a comfortable fun life and many magical adventures. And, when the time comes, perhaps a big adventure to rescue the stolen dragons.
What does my character arrive with?
Just the clothes on their back! They'll have to earn their possessions back through rewards.
โ†’ character questions
What is my character's purpose here?
To enjoy themselves and have fun, basically! Make friends, go on adventures, experience some wild magical things they may have have never seen before, all that good stuff. By having fun and taking part in the realm, magical fruit grows in your character's garden which can be cashed in for rewards. It's a win/win all around, really! Plus, there may be more intense events which tap into themes such a memory share and other forms of adventure - this game won't be happen all of the time and will allow players to experience the cottagecore setting in any way they like. There may be prompts involving slice of life, but others may encourage hurt/comfort, combat or even smut. No one is forced to fit a particular mould and everyone can play how they want!
What happens during hiatus or drop?
Anything except for death. We want to keep the game lighthearted and don't want to inflict too much emotional pain on the inhabitants here. The likely scenario for characters going home is that they meet with the Fae and wish to return, and the Fae cast a spell that sends their missing soul fragment back to the character where they were taken.
Are my character's powers nuked?
Nope! Your character will arrive exactly as they are.
Is there an age limit for characters?
Characters of any age may apply! We strictly ask that all characters involved in smut/adult RP are over the age of 18. Smut involving minors is strictly not allowed.
What happens with illness and death?
As mentioned in the previous question, characters cannot die here. But they can absolutely get sick. The reason why they can't die is likely due to the magical protection they experience due to their bond with the fruit they are paired with. Even if they experience a serious injury, they will make a recovery.

The worst they can do is faint. There are wild scorpions, tarantulas and bees that can make someone faint once they are bitten or stung. Your character will wake up in front of their house without a clue as to how this happened ...
My character isn't fully human! Will they be treated differently here?
Honestly? Yes. But that's not a bad thing! With the lore and setting, any characters that are Fae or have other kind of mythological connections (such as dragon characters, unicorn characters, etc.) will be regarded with a bit more trust from the locals! This can be worked into your CR or interactions with the NPCs of Fable. It could be useful for your character to help another one in this way.
Do normal fruit grow in the game?
Yes! Your character may grow them in their garden, even! Any fruit you can imagine likely grows in Fable.
โ†’ reward system
What is the reward system in this game?
In summary: Fable's reward system is based around the number of tags you write with your character. When you join the game, you will be able to choose a type of fruit for your character to grow in their garden from the list of Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Pears, Blueberries and Peaches. The different types of fruit give access to different types of rewards/powers that characters can receive. If you would like to read the rewards offered by each fruit, please go here to take a look!

The reward system works in the following format: For every 10 comments you write, 5 fruits grow in your character's garden. These fruits can be cashed in for rewards with the realm's overseer, Prism the dragon, which is done on this page here. The rewards page displays a reward menu which shows what the rewards can be cashed on for.
How do you earn rewards?
By commenting in the game and developing CR! In summary, when you comment around the game with your character and fill CR tasks, fruit will grow on trees in your character's garden. This magical fruit can be harvested and exchanged for rewards! Please see the rewards page for a more thorough explanation on how this system works, along with the rewards you can achieve.
I want to change my fruit. How do I do that?
If you change your mind upon arrival, you can swap immediately! Once changed, we then ask that players wait another 2 months before they change their fruit a second time.
If I change my fruit, will my rewards cross over?
Yes and no. If your character unlocked transformation abilities and magic powers, they would adapt to that fruit's equivalent. If your character unlocked transforming into a tiger while their fruit is orange and they change to pears, they will not be able to transform into a tiger any more and will need to pick an animal compatible with pear fruit.
โ†’ work & businesses
Is there an in-game currency?
Yes! In the form of coins. But everything involving this currency is purely hand-waved. It would be too much stress to keep track of character earnings and how much they spend in-game, so the mods will allow the players to make choices in regards to how much their character makes from work. We expect a little bit of realism and no god-moding here.
How can my character make money?
They can open a business! Or the easiest way would be for them to sell produce and flowers at the markets. They can also visit Tanook's shop to sell any fish and bugs they catch.
How do I decide how much my character earns?
We may create a guide for bugs/fish but honestly, it's just a direct reference to Animal Crossing. Some bugs and fish are rarer than others, and most of them function in a seasonal cycle. Your character is likely to earn less money this way during colder months due to them appearing less.

In regards to character business, that's completely up to you! It depends on the kind of business they have and how busy they are. Don't sell your character too short, but also try to keep things fair.
โ†’ locations & residency
What if I want my character to live with others? What happens to the fruit trees?
It is completely okay for characters to live together! The Tanuki in charge of Fable's housing will work through the night in order to complete any construction work on cottages, including combining character homes into one so that they now live with each other. He says you're in debt after all this work, but you'll pay it off ... eventually. (Or never.)

As for the fruit, if a character growing apples moves in with a character growing oranges, both of their fruit trees will grow in the garden they share.
โ†’ application questions
If I app to another game, can I CRAU the magical powers my character earned in Fable?
Of course! As long as the character doesn't have their powers nuked in their new game, their abilities can cross over with them.
How many characters can I put in the game?
Currently, we think a limit of 4 characters per player seems sustainable.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in Fable!
Here are a few tidbits to know before you apply:

player cap: 35/50

โœฟ Fable's application system is constantly open! This means that there is no set period for applications to come in. Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed by mods on Saturday & Sunday.

โœฟ You do not need a reserve to apply, but you must have an invite. Players in the game can invite 2 people a month! We ask that the person who invites someone into the game replies to their application comment in order to confirm said invite.

โœฟ We do not accept doubles of characters, nor do we accept app challenges.

โœฟ Please ensure that your prospective character isn't taken before you apply!

โœฟ player information
Name: Your name
Invited by: Name the person who invited you
Other characters: Do you have any existing characters in the game? Please list them.
Contact: List your preferred methods of contact.
Are you over 18? It is mandatory that our players are over 18.
โœฟ character information
Name: Your character's name
Age: Your character's age
Species: Your character's species
Canon: The canon your character is from
Canon point: The point in canon you are applying them from
CRAU: Are they carrying over the memories and experiences from another game? If not, please feel free to delete this section. If yes, please elaborate.

Abilities: A run-down on your character's abilities! Here is something to keep in mind due to the setting of Fable: As the realm is inhabited by fairytale creatures, the Fae NPCs will show interest and friendliness to those who are fully or partially mythological/fae in any way. We also don't nuke powers, so your character will arrive exactly as they are when the Fae take part of them away while they sleep.
History: Just a Wiki link is ok!
Personality: Give us a quick summary of what your character is like! This section should be around 150-200 words.
Arrival item: Characters will be allowed one item to arrive with them when they join the game! This can be a weapon, sentimental item, stuffed animal, or anything else you think they would never be seen without. The Fae will have cast a spell to ensure that any item a new arrival desires comes with them in order to provide them a little bit of comfort from home. Isn't that nice? Sadly, this only applies to tangible things and won't apply to animals, pets or companion creatures like Pokรฉmon.
โœฟ life in fable
Game plans: Whatโ€™s a rough idea of what your character will get up to in Fable? Keep this section brief, if you like!
Fruit trees: Choose from the game's fruit selection of Apple, Orange, Banana, Pear, Blueberry and Peach.
Any final thoughts? Just optional. Any further thoughts you would like to share. Post a meme if you like, even!

check-in & activity rewards
Check-in
Welcome to check-in! To keep things nice and relaxed in this game, you do not have to meet any comment requirements to prove activity. Instead, all you need to do is fill in the following form to tell us what your character has been up to!

Please ensure that you reply in the correct place! Check-ins must be posted in reply to the "CHECK-IN: [MONTH] [YEAR]" toplevel appropriate for the month.

Failure to check-in will result in a strike. If inactivity arises, we advise going on hiatus.
Two missed ACs will result in your character being swept from the game.

Bonus activity rewards!
While there are no comment thresholds to be met as a check-in requirement, tagging around certainly has its perks because activity reward bonuses can most certainly be earned here! Get yourself some cool new furniture, pets or a magical enchantment!

For every 10 comments you write in a month, you can pick a bonus AC reward! Offered randomly after rolling our reward spreadsheet, this could be be: a piece of furniture, companion animal/pet, clothing item, accessory - or a magical enchantment inflicted upon you by the Fae for you to have fun with during the next month.

Simply specify which you would like to redeem upon submission! This is not mandatory, and isn't relevant to the fruit rewards. This is just a "thank you" for playing in our game!

growing your fruit!
As an affectionate nod to the Animal Crossing series, the rewards in this game come in the form of fruit trees! Every character that arrives in Fable will have a single kind of fruit start growing in their garden when they begin mingling with others! (Chosen by you, the player!) These are special fruits, as they're made of magic, and can be exchanged for rewards. This list will explain how it works, and which rewards are obtainable!

After you have written 10 comments in a thread with your characters, 5 fruit will grow in your character's garden. The more you tag and play in the game, the more fruit you will make! Once the fruit is saved up, your character can harvest it and submit it in exchange for rewards. The transformation rewards will allow them further access to other parts of the game. Every month, there will be bonus tasks that a character can complete as advertised on Fable's community bulletin board.

Every completed bonus monthly task will earn your character an extra 2 fruit!

Keep in mind, when your character arrives in Fable, they will have nothing but the clothes on their back. They'll have to go out there and mingle if they want to expand their wardrobe, their home, or bring any sentimental items over!

โœจ To redeem fruit rewards, click here! โœจ

the reward menu (standard)

1 fruit
A small reward - Any small sized item from home, a small piece of furniture, food or drink, jewellery, a plushie, new clothes, etc. These are just examples!

5 fruit
A medium reward - Any medium sized item from home, a companion animal, a medium sized piece of furniture, a bundle of items such as books, etc. These are just examples!

10 fruit
A large reward - A large upgrade to the home, a permit to start a business, an adventurer pack to join the Knights of Fable, a vehicle, etc. These are just examples!

The transformation rewards work differently - they function more like milestones. For example, when your character redeems a reward, they don't have to start from scratch in order to get the next one. Some rewards are unique to each type of fruit, such as the elemental magic that characters can create, and the animals that they can transform into. Please read below to see which fruit possesses which ability! It may influence your choice in which fruit you choose to have your character grow in their garden.

start a business!
Now that you've settled into life in Fable, you might want to start a business to earn some coins! Some characters may be content enough to live a relaxed & cosy cottagecore life by sleeping in the flowers and eating pies all day, but others may want something to do. This is where business opportunities come in handy!

Earnings from businesses are purely handwaved, so feel free to take control of that. We ask for some form of realism so that characters don't end up stinkin' rich overnight. Interactions with NPC clients can also be handwaved, but feel free to use your business as an opportunity to engage with more characters an build CR!
business application
If you would like to start a business in Fable, please fill in the following form along with a permit request (which costs 10 fruit):

the world of fable
Perhaps it is misleading, but the world with this roleplay's namesake isn't actually called Fable. Fable is the region inhabited by those who are not native to this world. The name of the world itself is called Rhyme! As a whole, Fable is more commonly known by name since it is the place where your character arrives and lives. Now, let us go on a tour to see the many places that inhabit this magical realm!

fable
welcome to fable!
This is the village where all new inhabitants reside! Fable is a large district where all brand new arrivals are assigned their very own starter cottage which aesthetically tailors to their needs including a garden to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers! Every inhabitant is magically connected to a type of fruit in this place, and said fruit will grow the more that characters get out there and have good interactions with people! As one may expect, it has a mostly human population compared to the rest of Rhyme.
attractions & residents
Some of the inhabitants of Rhyme have moved to Fable in order to help the region thrive alongside the new arrivals, but there are a lot of vacancies wanted for businesses! It is a market town with basic attractions such as a clothes shop, a furniture shop, a town hall and a museum! There is certainly room for improvement, though. Does your character aspire to run a business in this lively fun place? It seems that the other residents of Rhyme are visiting frequently to see if anything new pops up!
limerick
welcome to limerick!
The region of Limerick mostly consists of whimsical forests and teeny tiny faerie villages! Until a character has traded in enough fruit to obtain themselves a size shifting ability, they won't be able to enjoy the faerie towns and villages that Limerick has to offer. The main inhabitants of this region are fae like pixies, faeries, elves and sprites alongside small to medium animal residents such as owls, mice, rabbits, badgers and foxes!
attractions & residents
The residents of Limerick have very little fear of humans - in fact, a majority really like them! Maybe a little too much... and they can be prone to mischief. The fae inhabitants may play a trick or two on occasion, and the animal inhabitants may pester to be fed or petted. It's all in good fun, though - they're a very lively bunch! Attractions to Limerick include faerie villages which are lined with taverns (they love to party!) along with music nights with plenty of singing, storytelling and camping.
villanelle
welcome to villanelle!
The beautiful seaside villages of Villanelle are a breathtaking sight! Charming towns surround crystal blue waters with colourful flowers lining the beach. It should be of no surprise that aquatic creatures such as merfolk live here, but they are joined by plenty of centaurs, satyrs, pegasus, unicorns and kepies. Unfortunately, the locals are known for being quite stuck up and snobby, and may not talk to a new acquaintance if they aren't partially transformed.
attractions & residents
The residents of Villanelle are very focused on the arts and beauty. They have great respect for Prism and the Dragon Siblings, which is partially why they don't speak to those who aren't transformed. Having transformation abilities proves that your character has assisted Prism in getting his siblings back. (And you look so dang good, too!) Those who win the trust of the locals will get to enjoy swimming pools, the beach, the art museum & store, fashion stores and seaside cafรฉs.
qijue
welcome to qijue!
If you enjoy regions high up on the mountains, look no further than Qijue. This unique region welcomes visitors with open arms, if they can withstand the perilous trek to reach it. It is not advised that those who cannot fly and don't have wings visit due to how dangerous it would be to climb on foot and without magic. Once residents do manage to reach Qijue, it is a rewarding sight: Beautiful, cosy cities made with wood and glowing under lantern light. The food smells amazing, too!
attractions & residents
Mythological beings like East Asian dragons, kirin, guardian lions and many more mythological spirits can be found in Qijue. Many anthropomorphic animals inhabit the regions as well, such as red pandas, giant pandas and tigers. The mythological creatures find comfort in how high the mountain is, as they prefer a more peaceful life. The animals can be mostly found running the many restaurants, food markets and tea houses. Impressed by your new abilities that granted you access to Qijue, the first meal is on the house!
kanshi
welcome to kanshi!
The fragrant & floral land of Kanshi is a visual masterpiece due to its abundance of colourful flowers. This is made possible because of the region's climate as it experiences a heavy amount of rainfall. Kanshi is inhabited by a lot of yลkai who can be super sweet, or super mischievous. Just like Qijue, Kanshi is high up and inaccessible on foot, and would require wings to reach it from redeeming the fruit reward that grants flight.
attractions & residents
The locals in Kanshi enjoy agriculture like farming and growing their own crops. This is likely due to the region having such heavy rainwater, meaning that growing food is an effortless task. The same can be said for the flowers, which are undoubtedly one of the biggest attractions to Kanshi. Visitors can enjoy public parks and gardens, hot springs, flower shops, cherry blossom trees, farmer's markets and water canals. The canals are pond-like with lilypads big enough to sit on!
skรกld
welcome to skรกld!
The chilly region of Skรกld may be cold in temperature, but the warmth is in abundance. The welcoming, friendly inhabitants are happy to bring anyone out of the cold to enjoy some shared bounties around the fire. The only obstacle is that the villages and buildings are so small that a character will need the ability to sizeshift in order to join in the fun, but once they do, it will be completely worth it!
attractions & residents
Skรกld is mostly occupied by trolls, gnomes, elves, unicorns and various winter animals such as hares, badgers, bears and moles. They love sharing stories around the fire, cooking up huge feasts and drinking the night away in taverns. But even without socialising, one of the biggest attractions is undoubtedly the aurora borealis that shines over Skรกld each night! The tiny villages contain attractions such as toy shops, taverns, ice skating rink, hot springs, wooden cabins, and lakes.

residency
where would you like to live?
While every character starts their life out in the village of Fable, they may crave a change of scenery and move elsewhere! Luckily, with the realm containing magic, it is an effortless task to poof your character's cottage and all of their belongings somewhere else. Or maybe they could get a brand new looking home entirely. Once the appropriate reward milestones have been met, the locals of each region will be waiting for you. Or perhaps you want to just stay in Fable! Your choice!
fable
Fable is the starting village where all characters arrive and start their brand new life in. It features a market square, local businesses and an assortment of humankind neighbours who are all in the same situation that you are. You know, having a portion of their soul taken by the Fae to materialise into a new life here. Anyway! Your character may aspire to move elsewhere, or they may get attached to Fable as a place and stay there.

Fable's residency attractions includes:

โ– Cottages of all kinds

โ– Easy access to local businesss

โ– Markets

โ– A bulletin board

โ– Town Hall & Shop
limerick
Limerick is the region containing surrounding woodlands inhabited by many Fae and Animal residents. The forests seem to stretch as far as the eye can see, and there are so many different types of trees! Most of the buildings are teeny tiny as they are the homes of many small Faerie creatures. If you lose your way at night, do not worry, as there is an abundance of glowing flora and mushrooms. It is unwise to go picking some without enquiring with the locals on which ones are edible, first ...

If you wish to move to Limerick, here are some residential attractions:

โ– Mushroom houses

โ– Treehouses

โ– Fairytale cottages

โ– Lively villages (which require a size-shifting ability to visit)

โ– Breathtaking nature

villanelle
If you are fond of the sea, you will love Villanelle. This beautiful coastal region is surrounded by sapphire blue waters and seaside villages. As one may expect, there are a lot of aquatic creatures that live here such as merfolk, sea dragons and kelpies. The land is mostly populated by centaurs, satyrs and some yลkai - all of which hold a high standard to their way of living in this place. It goes without saying that Villanelle is definitely the 'fanciest' region.

If you wish to move to Villanelle, here are some residential attractions:

โ– Seaside cottages

โ– Wooden beach houses

โ– Caves to explore

โ– Bustling villages & art attractions (which require a transformation ability to visit)

โ– Gorgeous ocean

qijue
High up in the mountains is the region of Qijue. The outskirts are rural but the towns and villages are very populated and bustling. Traditional wooden buildings tower up on varied levels over mountain terrain, with beautiful lanterns illuminating the streets at night. Visitors may see long dragons streaking across the sky while flying from place to place, as the incredible aroma of food fills the air. Wings are required to visit Qijue outside of events due to its high altitude.

If you wish to move to Qijue, here are some residential attractions:

โ– Traditional wooden buildings that tower high

โ– Wooden mountain homes

โ– Amazing food & restaurants

โ– Lights & lantern shows

โ– Wilderness to explore
kanshi
The fragrant & floral land of Kanshi is a visual masterpiece due to its abundance of colourful flowers. This is made possible because of the region's climate as it experiences a heavy amount of rainfall. Kanshi is inhabited by a lot of yลkai who can be super sweet, or super mischievous. Just like Qijue, Kanshi is high up and inaccessible on foot, and would require wings to reach it.

If you wish to move to Kanshi, here are some residential attractions:

โ– Traditional wooden houses

โ– Wooden farm houses

โ– Flower cottages

โ– Flower gardens with wooden bridges & canals

โ– Farmer's markets

skรกld
The chilly region of Skรกld may be cold in temperature, but the warmth is in abundance. The welcoming, friendly inhabitants are happy to bring anyone out of the cold to enjoy some shared bounties around the fire. The cold of the region is compensated for due to overall warmth and friendliness shared among its residents.

If you wish to move to Skรกld, here are some residential attractions:

โ– Wooden log cabins

โ– Winter cottages

โ– Aurora borealis every night

โ– Bustling villages (which require a size-shifting ability to visit)

โ– Ice skating & hot springs

Hiatus
If you would like to call a hiatus, please let us know down below! The maximum length for a hiatus is two months. Those who are on hiatus do not have to leave a check-in comment at the end of the month. Submit a comment with the following form:

Drop
Thank you so much for playing! We're sad to see you go, but we hope you had a lovely time.

The default game exit that we would like to offer your character is for their taken soul fragment to return back to their world to join their body. Because time travels much more differently in this magical fairy realm, it can be assumed that little to no time has passed since that soul fragment was taken. Optionally, the soul fragment that joins their body would fill them with all the memories they made in this place. This is ideal for characters who have important CR or in-game relationships they aren't ready to let go of just yet. With their memories still intact, there are possibilities for post-game PSLs or CRAUing them into another.

Canon Update
Has a new chapter of your character's series come out? Is there new content of an ongoing series? Have you changed your mind about the canon point your character is taken from? We're happy to allow canon updates to remedy this! CRAU memory updates are also completely acceptable! If you have any concerns or queries, feel free to ask.

NPCs

non-playable characters
the inhabitants of the game!
Characters that exist in-game without a player who help advance the plot or provide interactions for your character! There are main NPCs who are more plot-related than others, and miscellaneous mythological creature & anthropomorphic animal characters who live as residents in the respective regions of the game.

Improvisation with these residental NPCs is accepted and encouraged! There are, however, some outlines on what they can and cannot do. We trust that players can make these choices sensibly when writing NPC interactions into tags!

Residential NPCs CAN:

โ– Participate in your character's business (customers of food or taverns, clients of attorneys, students of tutors, etc.)

โ– Play tricks on your character. This is a land inhabited by fae, after all...! They might misplace belongings or pull pranks.

โ– Show fear and discomfort over your character's presence if your character is not transformed. Please read the rewards guide on transformations for more information on this!

โ– In regards to the above, they may chase your character out of forests or close their shops and refuse service to them if they're afraid. They feel nervous around non-magical beings and some critters are sadly less open minded than others.

Residential NPCs CANNOT:

โ– Cause death or severe injury to your character.

โ– Show extreme forms of discrimination or aggression towards your character.

โ– Harass your character to the point of extreme upset or annoyance. Some fae may like to play tricks, but they get bored easily.

โ– Sleep with your character. (OH NO I'm sorry, monsterfuckers!! But trust me, you will have opportunities to have your monster banging needs met in future events and TDMs!)

prism
Prism is the main NPC in all of Fable. He is the realm's overseer and the one who created it many moons ago along with the help of his brothers and sisters. He is a very large white dragon with fur, feathers and a tail tip stylised like a paint brush.

Prism is a dragon who cannot create magic by himself. But once he consumes the fruit grown by his siblings, he is capable of using their magic in the form of paint by using his tail brush. But sadly, his siblings were stolen by an evil Witch who came to Rhyme in search of a pet. Entranced by the luminous colourful scales of his siblings, she stole them all and keeps them in her castle.

He has the ability to dreamwalk - allowing him to visit characters and creatures in their dreams. Through this method, he frequently visits his siblings in their dreams in order to see how they're doing in the Witch's keep. They are chained and held against their will, but healthy and in no risk of further harm otherwise, which does put his mind at ease.

Curiously, human arrivals into their realm come with a natural ability to grow fruit the way his siblings did. By helping him gain magic so that he can rescue his siblings, he rewards the new inhabitants with a comfortable life and anything they wish for.
the dragon siblings
These faerie dragons are the siblings of Prism. They are tiny, unlike Prism, and each dragon has beautiful shining scales corresponding with a different colour of the rainbow. Each dragon has their own unique personality, along with a favourite kind of fruit that they loved to grow. In some way, they were magically connected to the fruit.

Once the siblings fed the fruit to Prism, he could magically create paint in order to create a world for them all to live in. Sadly, an Evil Witch appeared one day seeking a pet to capture, and she stole all of the dragons. They're still in the Witch's keep, but Prism knows that they are not being harmed. Their big brother dragon aspires to rescue them, but he can only do this once he has enough magic. Could this happen one day? Will he ever see them again?
the mayor of fable
This is Bluebell, the current mayor of Fable! Does she seem familiar somehow...? Well, uh. Maybe a little! Her role in Fable is to serve as the Town Mayor, and she works alongside Tanook the Tanuki. Since characters are pretty independent in Fable, she doesn't have a whole lot to do apart from spin in her office chair and drink coffee. But she is the first NPC your character meets formally!

As mayor, she welcomes your character to Fable, explains its history and how the fruit reward system works, and introduces your character's starter cottage. She doesn't dive too deeply into the story of the Evil Witch and the missing dragon siblings, in order to make her new residents feel comfortable about settling in.

Overall she is a helpful, happy dog who will always have her door open for any enquiries or concerned newcomers.

She's only around 4ft in height, so be careful not to step on her!
tanook
This is Tanook the Tanuki, and he is in charge of residential homes! Hang on, isn't there another Tanuki out there who also concerns himself with loans and business over houses? Probably! Maybe they're related.

Anyway, Tanook is the one in charge of house upgrades and residential placements. Don't ask how he works - because no one knows. When you cash in your rewards to upgrade your house, you will wake up the next day to see it completely revamped! He's certainly a clever Tanuki, isn't he?

You'll end up indebted to him, but don't worry about it, he's not in any rush to be paid over it. One can only wonder how he's so relaxed over late payments ...
the fae
The Fae are magical beings who can often be found spreading mischief and throwing parties. While commonly found in Limerick, they love visiting Fable to nosy around their new human inhabitants and are often some of the main reasons that in-game events happen. Some of the Fae may include:

โ– Fairies

โ– Elves

โ– Pixies

โ– Gnomes

โ– Merfolk

โ– Satyrs

โ– Sprites

... And many others! Feel free to assume which!
the animals
The animals who live in the realm are all fully sentient and can talk. While some of them stay on all fours and don't wear clothing, others enjoy walking around on two legs while clothed and indulging in activities that may be considered "human." Some of the animal inhabitants may include:

โ– Cats

โ– Dogs

โ– Rabbits

โ– Wolves

โ– Squirrels

โ– Tigers

โ– Mice

... And many others! Feel free to assume which!
mythological creatures
There are many mythological creatures and spirits who inhabit Fable! They are most likely to be found in Kanshi and Qijue. They have varied temperaments and some can be quite timid - but others may be curious about humankind. Some of the mythological creatures that inhabit the realm are:

โ– Unicorns

โ– Dragons

โ– Gryphons & Hippogriffs

โ– Jackalopes

โ– Kirins

โ– Centaurs

โ– Yลkai

... And many others! Feel free to assume which!

fabulists: (Default)
once upon a time ...
in a magical land by the name of rhyme ...
There were a family of dragons born from magic and light. When they were together, they could create all sorts of wonders with their magic. Each dragon carried a unique ability and a unique form of magic, corresponding to the colour of their scales. Their scales shone brightly in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Their big brother, and the one who made use of their natural gifts, was big white a dragon called Prism.

Prism was much larger than his siblings, and while he had no magic like theirs, he was the only one who could conjure up anything into existence by harnessing their abilities. His siblings created magical fruit for him to eat which gave him the power to make magical paint, and by using the tip of his fluffy tail as a paint brush, he could paint into life - anything they could imagine. Twinkling stars, sunset skies, colourful meadows, sparkling gemstones - Prism could create it all, with thanks to his siblings and their fruit.

They made a world of their own: Together, the dragons and Prism combined their colours and their magic to make unique regions to explore. While they had all the fun in the world being together on their many adventures, they ultimately decided that they wanted to share their creation with other magical creatures. After generously combined their magic, they created a magical rainbow bridge which would allow other magical creatures to enter their world that they had created.

The rainbow bridge was the link of their world to others. Crossing over it came unicorns, gryphons, fairies, pixies, yลkai - and all sorts of magical creatures seeking a place to live and call home. Communities were established and before the dragons knew it, they had a bustling little world they made for themselves. It was paradise at last. Until one day, when everything changed.

With such a bustling population of magical beings, an evil Witch crossed over the rainbow bridge in order to steal creatures to take as her pets. Drawn to their luminous and colourful scales, the Witch took an immediate liking to Prism's siblings, and captured them all. Because he wasn't luminous and magical, Prism was left behind. The Witch took his captive siblings and as she left, she destroyed the rainbow bridge behind her - along with Prism's only hope of ever seeing his siblings again.

This created an immediate problem for Prism: creation of the rainbow bridge was only made possible with his siblings' magic. With them gone, he had no way to rebuild the rainbow bridge and search for them. The white dragon felt heartbroken and lost. He couldn't use magic any more, and now had a world to govern without his beloved family.

Inspired by Prism and his siblings' generosity, the magical creatures who were allowed to live and thrive in the lands created by the dragons comforted Prism with a promise that they would help him find his siblings again. Although they all lacked the ability to create the same type of magic that his siblings had, they shared their own experiences which would prove to be useful. The most experienced mages in the realm who were well-versed in magic speculated that the dragons' fruit was tied to their emotions. Since Faerie creatures feel emotions a lot differently to others, perhaps other creatures should be brought to the land to test this theory.

With nothing to lose, Prism agreed to send Fae across other realms and worlds to find humankind to bring into their world, in a brand new village that they would later name Fable. Prism had only one request for the Fae in this instance: They cannot steal human babies or kidnap anyone from their world. He knows what they're like. The Fae sighed their consent, abandoning their more traditional methods of capturing humans in order to try and fulfil Prism's request.
... a brand new face arrived. (yours!)
Perhaps, in your world, you've read stories about magical fairy creatures. You may have read fairytales, even ones about how fairies can steal people away.

In the depths of sleep, you hear fluttering wings and glistening fairy dust. Everything seems normal, until you start to feel a small part of yourself ascending - consciously looking back at your sleeping body. This tiny conscious fragment of you is then placed in a little glass bottle, secured by a cork in the top. At least, you think it's you. Is this you? You suddenly feel as though your consciousness has grown very small compared to the vessel that it was in. If this is a dream, it's a very strange one.

But it isn't a dream. A part of your soul has been taken by the Fae, but you are none the wiser to this at the moment. They're whimsical creatures who are indulging in idle chatter about the souls they have collected, while they fly through magical veils with you in their bag. It is dark, and all you can hear are fairy giggles and banter while they make their journey.

Shortly after, you arrive in a brand new world - and once the Fae return, they open the glass bottle which releases the small fragment of your soul, and it magically materialises into another 'you', just like the one left at home. Before you can even raise your voice to question what the hell has happened, you are interrupted by the squeaky, cheerful voices of your captors.

"Now, now! Don't be mad at us! We know that fairies have a reputation for stealing people, but we promise that we didn't steal you! We just took a portion of your soul, and now ... poof! You're a new version of you!"

How much of their story do you believe? You might even enquire why you have been taken.

"Oh, nothing malicious, dearie. We haven't stolen any human babies or made any swaps. Nothing like that! The tales you may read put us in a very terrible light, we'll have you know!"

... But that's getting off topic.

"Anyway - welcome to Fable! This is your new home! You get to live in a cottage and live a relaxed life among your human neighbours while you enjoy this magical land inhabited by all sorts of mythological creatures! There's plenty of stuff to do, and ... Hey! Why are you looking at me like that!? I'm telling the truth! If you don't believe me, go and speak to the town mayor or even the dragon who governs this place. Then you'll know that you can trust the Fae, after all! Hmph!"

What strange creatures. But eventually, you learn they were telling the truth. You get to see through a magic mirror that the 'old' you is still back asleep right where you were left. They are waking up and getting ready to start the day, none the wiser that a part of their soul has left to form a new cottagecore life. Maybe it's time to settle in and find some other people brought into this weirdness ...
Welcome to Fable!
your new cottage!
Now that you're here in Fable, it's time to see where you're going to be living! Upon arrival, every character gets their own starter cottage. Its outer appearance, roof colour, garden size and house shape are all perfectly tailored to your character's aesthetic wishes! It's only a little bit furnished (and by 'little' we mean with an oil lamp, a cardboard box, a casette tape and a single bed), so you'll need to cash in some fruit rewards to really liven up the place and make it your own.

New arrivals will receive:

โ– Cottage located in the village of Fable with furniture and a garden

โ– A bug catching net, fishing rod, shovel and a watering can

โ– A letter box and a letter set to send letters to fellow residents

โ– A smartphone device

โ– An assigned fruit (that you choose as the player) to grow on the trees in your character's garden. See below for more info - this is the rewards system!
your fruit trees!
Fruit trees are the reward system in the game! The way it works is that on arrival, your character will learn that the more they have friendly interactions with people, the more fruit will grow on their tree. For every 10 comments posted, 5 fruit will grow on their trees. To see the reward list on what fruit can be spent on, click here! Each fruit has its own unique transformation rewards as well which will be essential for residents who want to travel all across the land outside of events and TDMs. Here is a list of all of the potential fruit that can choose for your character:

This is your brand new handy dandy phone for all of your network communication needs! Don't worry, it's free and your character receives it on arrival. It is a smartphone-shaped wooden device that contains an assortment of apps that will be useful to your character during their stay in Fable. The "basics" will be on there such as a clock with alarm, a calculator, a camera, weather, map, and access to the social media networking app: Tale Book.

On Tale Book, characters will be able to create video and text posts, tagged with a @username or even anonymously if they want to keep their identity a secret. It is a wonderful way to network out and find friends to navigate this strange and magical place with! Occasionally, there may be mingles and memes posted to the network in order to encourage friendly interactions!

The devices are fully customisable, too - so let your imagination run wild! The outer wooden frame can be any shade of wood you desire, or even colourful wood! There's even a hole in the wood to place hanging charms! It seems that this magic phone customises itself to tailor to your character's needs. Isn't that fancy? And finally, it is advised that your character has an inbox set up in order to receive voice calls, text/video messages, or even in-person greetings.
